Technical Specifications
The exclusive Helical Rail Design (HRD) plays a significant role in this board’s exceptional performances. It is a unique process that allows for the rails of the board to be shaped in 3D. There are three sections to the rail as it runs the length of the board. In the middle of the board, the rail is thin for grip and improved upwind ability. Under the feet, the rail is inverted and curved like a surfboard rail, allowing the board to smoothly track through chop and improving its carving ability. As the rail reaches the tips, it thins out again, bringing superior grip and bite to give excellent pop.
On the water, the TRAX HRD LITE TECH offers a smooth, forgiving ride. The HRD rail eliminates spray and feels very comfortable regardless of the water conditions.
The flex has been tuned to provide the optimum pop off the water, and the extra flex in the tips really helps to launch you into the air. When it comes to landings, the wide outline and channeled base combine to smooth things out and allow you to always retain control.
The concave step design on the bottom, an association of a classic single concave with a full-length channel, gives the board its locked-in yet smooth ride, and allows you to go planing in an instant with strong upwind potential.
The Lite Tech is exclusive to F-ONE. Patented by Rossignol Snowboards, it integrates a TPU element into the board allowing light to pass right through. It features two narrow, transparent lines down the center of the board, which is an outstanding aesthetic feature and will certainly help you stand out from the crowd.
Combining efficiency, edge control and chop-friendly handling, the TRAX HRD LITE TECH is an excellent choice for beginners, experts, and everyone in between. From flat water to harsh chop, this board can handle it, and you’ll get a ride like no other with plenty of performance at your disposal.
The TRAX HRD LITE TECH is available in four sizes: 135×39 cm, 136×40.5 cm, 137×42 cm, and 140×45 cm. All come equipped with four UNIBOX 50mm fins, which offer better speed and improved glide thanks to their thinner profile.
In the ever-evolving world of technology, the TRAX HRD Lite Tech stands out as a beacon of innovation and efficiency. Designed for both professionals and enthusiasts, this cutting-edge device combines advanced features with user-friendly functionality. Whether you are looking to enhance your productivity or streamline your daily tasks, the TRAX HRD Lite Tech is the perfect companion.

TRAX HRD Lite Tech

The TRAX HRD Lite Tech has a long and successful past with F-ONE, it is also one of the more popular twin tips on the market today. There are heaps of technical features within this board that make it special and I’ve had some really good sessions already!
F-ONE’s unique Helical Rail Design or HRD for short is a construction process which benefits the performance of the board in all conditions. Unlike other twin tips where the board has the same outline throughout the whole shape, HRD means you get a shaped rail that offers insane grip and improves the carving capabilities of the board. TRAX HRD Lite Tech
You’ll see from the images that the board is thin in the centre, the tip and the tail, however where the foot straps are placed becomes thicker and inverted allowing you to really edge hard with the utmost support, carve easily and cut through chop like butter. The thin tips of the board are why this board is great for freestyle as it creates great pop.
The Lite Tech construction has no performance advantages, however, gives the board its unique look. It allows light to pass through the board as you can see from the images within the review. A nice feature for those who are keen to turn heads when wandering down to the beach! This technology is exclusive to F-ONE, so you’ll only see it on their products.
A 3D shaped paulownia wood core is at the heart of the board, and the construction mixes unidirectional and bi-axial fibres at 45 degrees to achieve a unique balance between flex and torsion.
The board is best paired with the UniBox F-ONE fins and Platinum3 bindings. The TRAX HRD Lite Tech also comes in 2 colours; Papaya and Glacier, both of which defiantly stand out from the crowd!
On The Water
Having never used an F-ONE board before I was very impressed with how user-friendly this board was, but also the major performance aspects to it. I’ve been a huge fan of the kites for quite some time, so it’s no surprise that the board delivered too.
It has a really smooth feel on the water. The semi channelled base of the board helps with softer landings from your jumps and allows you to quickly regain control and carve back onto your edge. The flatter base is also really playful when it comes to popping around to toeside, and I found it was really nice to glide in and around the waves. TRAX HRD Lite Tech
This board has a good flex feeling to it also. The tips have more flex allow great pop and the HRD technology allows for a forgiving ride. Perfect for beginner/intermediates all the way to advanced riders. If ever you lose an edge and lose control, this board is great for regaining your balance and getting back to locking in hard.
The rail design also gives you great upwind performance. With a great set of fins, powering upwind is super easy. Lean back, edge hard and just watch how you glide upwind from where you started!
Overall
Overall, I am one very happy kiter! This board is great for freeride/big air with the option of also performing well for freestyle. Not only does it look the part, but it is also packed with performance and delivers a smooth ride and is a board that’s super easy to get along with. Playful, forgiving and responsive the 2021 TRAX HRD Lite Tech board is one I could easily have in my quiver. Great for beginners all the way up to your Liam Whaleys, this board shreds!
If first impressions count, then the 2019 Trax gets off to a flying start. The Lite Tech version is opaque with the futuristic Lite Tech giving it a very visually pleasing sparkle. From a lineage spanning at least a decade, the Trax is F-ONE’s freeride all-rounder and has evolved markedly over the years. What we’re now presented with is an exquisitely honed product. The highly tailored HRD rail shape is like no other currently on the market. Essentially you have a thin tapered tip – to enhance grip and flex characteristics – then the rail thickens under the footpads, with a rounded, almost scaled down surfboard shape.
This is designed to displace the water outwards and prevent bounce. This thickness continues to the center of the board, but the rail shape then goes squarer again, increasing grip. The result when riding is quite striking. The Trax is very playful and skatey and extremely smooth through the chop and carves a great big rooster tail on the turn. The stepped concave, a common feature on freeride boards, does a great job of planing early and sending you upwind effortlessly. Normally with a board that feels loose, you would struggle to hold power, but the rail design means the Trax provides incredible edging control and speed.
The overall flex is definitely a little stiffer than other boards in this class, and it relies upon shape rather than soft flex to smooth out heavy landings, which it does well. All that rail thickness translates into a mid-weight board coming in at 4.48kgs fully loaded. The carbon version would, of course, trim this down. Board hardware is up there with the best on the market. The fin system is F-ONE’s own design which is very sturdy and spreads the load well over the tip of the board. The Platinum bindings are well designed ergonomically, easy to adjust and will fit a multitude of feet. Then there’s a good sized toe grip which enhances the secure feeling.
For taller riders the Trax might benefit from a slightly wider stance option, especially as it rides a little bigger than its size. At 6’2” I would never normally choose to ride a 136cm but found myself reaching for this whenever it was over 20 knots. It’s a boosting machine! Like most products from F-ONE, the Trax has a bit of finesse and personality; it strays well away from more safe, generic designs in the marketplace and stands out from the crowd with great performance attributes. It somehow achieves feeling both skatey and grippy simultaneously.
